DIY: Chanel Shirts.

DIY'S

What you need:

  • A white or a black shirt
  • Scissors
  • Sharpie
  • Chanel logo
  • Black fabric paint (or white if you’re doing it on a black shirt) [you can even use a fabric marker]
  1. Print out the logo on paper, cut out the black part of the sign (If you have an X-Acto knife, use that) and tape it onto the middle of the shirt.

2. With a sharpie carefully line the inside of the logo. Put a book or some newspaper under the top of the shirt so the ink doesn’t bleed through.

3. With your paint carefully paint the inside of your logo and let dry.

*Pic credit here. This would make a great Christmas present, birthday gift or just a fun thing you can do with your friends during a sleepover or something.

Enjoy,

Fruits for beautiful skin.

Beauty., Health and Wellness.

Not only are fruits good for your insides, they’re also good for your outsides. Here are some fruits that can make your skin AMAZING:

Apples: Apples are a great conditioner & toner for your skin, they have amazing skin-healing powers and have been used as a beauty aid for centuries.

-Add a cup of apple juice to your bath to cleanse and soften your skin.

-Apple juice, when applied to your hair scalp, can prevent dandruff. You can use it as a final rinse after shampooing your hair.

-Apples are filled with pectin – essential for fighting the dreaded acne.

-The juice of apple can be used as a breath freshener too. *not relevant but nice to know

Lemons: Lemons are a classic home beauty ingredient for a reason.

-Lemons are used to cleanse, lighten and freshen the skin and hair.

-Use lemon slices to soften rough skin spots such as elbows & heels.

-Lemon slices help deodorize. Mix a few teaspoons of lemon juice in your bath and you’ll feel fresh the whole day.

-Lemon juice can be added to your favorite cleanser or shampoo to refresh and tone your scalp.

-If you use it a few times a month mixed with your shampoo,  it’ll help prevent dandruff.

-Lemon grinds can be rubbed on to scars as it aids healing.

-Lemon is a natural bleach so it can help to fade out dark spots and acne scars too.

Bananas: they are rich in protein and natural fats so they can be used on all skin types.

-Banana is a great emollient for your skin and hair

-Make an easy facemask that will make your skin supple by applying mashed banana all over your skin and leaving it on for 20 minutes. Once you’re done, rinse off with warm water and make sure to moisturize.

-Mashed banana also makes a wonderful hair conditioner when mixed with a 1 tablespoon of honey. It’s perfect for keeping hair beautiful even if dyed regularly.

Pineapple: Pineapples are great skin softeners, which cleanses and rejuvenates dull and dry skin.

-Use pineapple slices on rough skin spots like knees, elbows, and heels.

-Use a slice of pineapple like you would use a sponge or loofah to scrub your body in the bath or shower.

Papaya: Papaya is rich in papain enzyme and Vitamin A which is the best treatment for exfoliating your skin.

-Apply mashed papaya and 3 teaspoons of aloe vera gel and massage all over your body monthly for fresh and glowing skin (leave on your skin for no more than five minutes & rinse thoroughly) [use it with caution for the first time because it may sometimes irritate sensitive skin]

Peaches: Peaches are highly emollient and perfect for dry skin types.

-Mash a fresh peach and combine with a tablespoon of plain yogurt to make a smooth paste, apply to your skin and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water and your skin will feel moisturized and supple to the touch.

Hope these helped,

Removing Nail Polish without Remover

Beauty.

It’s so annoying when you have chipped nail polish and you don’t have nail polish remover at home so I’m here to help. Here’re some things you can use to take off nail polish without nail polish remover:

1.Hairspray
Hairspray often contains the same kind of chemicals as nail polish remover, and this allows it to serve the same purpose as nail polish remover.
Spray some hairspray onto your nail then remove the nail polish with a tissue. Don’t use a cotton ball because the substance sticks to the nail.
2. Perfume
If you have a perfume that you don’t particularly like the smell of you can use it as a nail polish remover. Spray some onto a cotton ball and rub onto your nails. Repeat as needed.
3. Nail Polish
This might sound weird, but it works. When you apply a new coat of nail polish, the old layer softens which makes it easier to remove the nail polish. Apply a layer of nail polish then take both layers with a cotton disc by rubbing firmly over your nails.
Good luck,

Dealing with stress and frustration.

Health and Wellness., Lifestyle.

From teachers to friends, to work to everything, things can tend to get really stressful and unbearable at times and I’m here to help. Here are a few tips I have:

  • Sleep, you’ll be rested and feel a lot better
  • Rant to someone I promise it’ll help
  • Get a cat, they’re soothing
  • Exercise or at least do yoga every other day because it has a unique capacity to exhilarate and relax, to provide stimulation and calm, to counter depression and dissipate stress
  • GET A PLANNER. I cannot stress that enough. I promise your life will be so much easier.
  • For things not school related, make a list and check it off as you go along. You’ll get a sense of satisfaction and completion and you won’t be so overwhelmed
  • If someone gives you a job and you know you won’t be able to do it don’t agree just to be polite, apologize and tell them you can’t so they get someone who can. If you do say yes you’ll get overwhelmed and frustrated and the job won’t be done right
  • Please, please, please try to get out of the habit of procrastination. Don’t save everything for Sunday night or like some people I know, Monday morning to do things/ last minute. Do small things at a time and you’ll be calmer.
  • Cry. This might sound odd, but crying helps you because they contain a lot of stress hormones which are released when you cry.
  • Smile. Even if it’s a fake smile, your body gives out endorphins and even if you’re not happy, your body will think you are and you’ll slowly become happier.
  • Help others. Seeing the happiness in others creates this feeling in people that makes them calmer and happier.
  • Stay away from other people. If you know you’re stressed, frustrated etc stay away from others because if you’re anything like me you’ll lash out or break down and do something you’ll end up regretting.
  • Find something like an outlet to let all the anger and frustration go to like screaming, breaking things (try pencils or ripping paper), punching a pillow, chewing gum or ice etc. Just find something inanimate so you don’t lash out on someone.
  • Take breaks. Whether it be in between when you are doing homework, studying, or just during the weekend. Go outside, breathe some fresh air, eat, walk around and then come back to whatever you were doing. If you do so your mind will be well rested and you’ll think better.
  • If you’re doing something and you’re really frustrated for example a project etc. just stop. Sleep on it or come back to it in an hour or so, so that you’ll be calmer and have a fresher perspective when you see it the next time. This helps so your work won’t be sloppy and just thrown together.

Remember, if you can’t do something, it’s not the end of the world, you have second chances, extra credit and so much more, it’s not the end of the world and it will be ok.

Good luck guys and I hope this helps 🙂

How my menstrual cup changed my life.

Health and Wellness., Lifestyle., raving reviews

This may be a little sensitive for a few people out there so readers be cautioned.

menstrualcups1

I’ve tried a few menstrual cups in and after going back and forth, I finally settled on the Sckoon cup and I love it. Honestly, switching to menstrual cups was one of the best things I’ve done for myself.

WHY?
If not all, most commercial brand tampons and pads contain the chemicals asbestos, dioxin, and rayon (fibers). Asbestos is an irritant that has been known to cause excessive bleeding. Dioxin is toxic to the reproductive and immune systems and has been known to cause endometriosis (irregular bleeding/infertility which is very common among women today.) Rayon creates a breeding ground for dioxin within the vagina (from the use of tampons) by leaving fibers behind in the uterus. Using commercial tampons and pads leave women extremely susceptible to hormonal challenges, fertility issues, and general complications with their reproductive organs. [Source: Wild Woman Speaks]

The average woman menstruates for forty years and uses approximately 20 tampons per cycle, which is roughly 240 tampons each year. This means she will use about 9,600 tampons during the entire course of her menstruating years. That’s a freaking lot of tampons! Women, we must strongly consider our choices regarding menstrual care. Not only is that a massive amount of tampons that wind up in a landfill year after year, but that’s a lot of harsh chemicals that are making their way into our bodies if we are using commercial brands of menstrual products. Choosing to care for our menstrual cycle with organic reusable cloth pads and moon cups not only does our bodies good, it does our environment a whole lot of good, too! [Source]

The tampon industry is convinced that women need bleached white products. They seem to think that we view this as “pure” and “clean.” The fact is, if Dioxin puts women at risk for cancer and Dioxin is stored in fatty tissue (just like that found in the vagina), and a woman uses as many as 11,000 tampons in her lifetime, could the long term use of tampons increase cancer risk? [Source]

How it changed my life:

Every time I used to get my period, I would always get worried that I was leaking or that I would smell etc and would go to the bathroom 2 times more than I usually do. Ever since I’ve discovered menstrual cups, I feel so much more at ease whenever I’m on my period because I don’t have to go to the bathroom every few hours. I’ve always seen the bad effects of tampons so I never used those. Now I go to the bathroom whenever I need to pee or poop, and if you insert it right, you can keep it in for up to 12 hours depending on your flow. I usually wear a pantyliner just in case my flow is a little heavier than usual, but otherwise it’s made my life SO MUCH EASIER especially at night.

So many people get grossed out about putting something up your vagina but we need to get over the “gross”- it’s part of life and natural- even though it may be inconvenient and uncomfortable at times. It makes life so much easier and saves you so much money. You just invest in one and you don’t have to keep buying boxes/packages of pads and tampons and freaking out if you don’t have any in your house when you start your cycle etc.

If you want to get one, start with the a Sckoon cup because they’re a little bit smaller than the rest and are more comfortable. If you have a light to medium flow and have a low cervix, get Size 1 and if you usually have a heavier flow and a higher cervix, get size 2.

I really hope you guys get a chance to try one out and I promise you’ll love it. You just need practice. Here’s more information on how to use it.

Good Luck,

How to quickly lose weight.

Fitness., Health and Wellness., Lifestyle.

Before I start, you’re beautiful. Don’t look at thinspiration or anything like that, it’ll just motivate you the WRONG way. If you plan on losing a few pounds, guess what? There’s nothing wrong with that. 🙂 You should want to lose weight so that you feel good and so that you’re healthy. Don’t worry about what other people think because it’s your body.

I’m going to enlighten you with the basics a little bit:

How do you gain weight?
-When you take in more calories than you burn, you gain weight. A lb of fat = 3,500 cal. Your body stores extra calories as fat. So, for every 3,500 cals you consume, you gain 1 lb.

How do you lose weight?
-If you eat calories or exercise, you lose weight. Say you eat 250 cals less than normal and burn off 250 cals. That is 500 fewer cal a day. If you do this every day, you will lose a lb a week.

500(cal) x 7(days in a week) = 3500 cal or 1 lb

[Try to aim for no more than 2 lbs a week. If you try for more, you’ll probably lose more lean muscle and water instead of fat. Just remember, “slow and steady”.]

Anyways, here’s what you can do to quickly lose weight.

  1. EXCERCISE
    1. This might be what everyone says but it’s true. The more muscles you have, the faster your fat will burn away. You build up muscle first and then you lose the fat. Even if you start noticing your legs or whatever increasing in size, eventually after keeping up with it for a while, you WILL see results. Try to maintain a consistent schedule, workout at least 3+ days a week and keep up with it. It’s up to you, if you wanna see faster results you have to either to more HIIT (High-intensity interval training workouts) [This is great if you’re lazy and quickly want to get done with the workout] or do other workouts for a longer period of time. If you want to see faster results, you yourself need to work for it.
      1. If you want to do more HIIT workouts, or just any workouts in general I recommend you start with Blogilates, the Sworkit app or 7-minute workout app because from experience, those are the best.
    2. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT. Many people think that if you do arm workouts, you’ll lose fat on your arms but in reality you’re only gaining muscles in your arm. If you want to keep the muscles and strength you have, you have to constantly work those muscles or else it’ll just go back to how it was before. In order to truly lose weight in one specific place is to lose it everywhere at the same time. Fat is balanced out in your body so you can’t really get skinnier arms and have a thicker thigh.
    3. If your body isn’t used to working out, don’t jump into brutal exercises like pushups and pullups. Start in moderation and gradually work your way up to the harder stuff. During your first few sessions, I suggest just stretching and get your body acclimated to moving around a bit. Then you start launching into the workouts. I suggest you get a premade workout plan or watch a YouTube video with workouts that are already given so you don’t get discouraged and say, “Oh I can’t find any good stuff to do”
    4. GET A GYM WORKOUT BUDDY. THIS WILL HELP YOU SO MUCH. I workout by myself and this usually leads to procrastination and not getting anything done. If you workout or go to the gym with a friend, you guys can push each other.
  2. Eat healthy
    1. Eat healthy! But don’t deprive yourself! If you’ve been doing great for a few weeks and are craving.. lets say.. a donut, go eat a donut and reward yourself! I mean you’re not gonna gain ten pounds from one donut. If you have a hard time eating healthy, TRUST ME, I know how it feels. It’s hard, but once you get used to eating healthy, it’ll be a piece of cake!
      1. Breakfast IS the most important meal of the day! It gets your metabolism going and makes you fuller throughout the day! To boost your metabolism even more, drink hot water with lemon water every morning and/or add 2 tablespoons of coconut oil to your breakfast somehow every morning to make your metabolism boost up.
      2. Remember to always add a healthy side to your lunch meal! You can add things like fruits, bell peppers, hummus instead of mayo in your sandwiches, baked potatoes instead of french fries, Kale chips (Remove the leaves from the stem, drizzle some olive oil and salt over it and bake for 10-15 min until the edges are brown)
      3. You may think it’s smart to skip meals or snacks to save on calories, but if you deal with hunger as it happens (by eating every three or four hours), you’ll eat less over the course of the day! It works as long as you treat snacks like tiny healthy meals– not just as junk food breaks.
  3. DRINK A LOT OF WATER
    1. Drinking water is directly correlated with losing. A lot of people confuse thirst for hunger so they  tend to eat rather than drink water. If you’re craving a midday snack and want to make sure your pangs are caused by hunger, not hydration, drink a glass of water first. Then see if you’re still hungry 30 minutes later.
    2. Drinking enough water and staying properly hydrated is part of a healthy weight-loss system and healthy weight in general. It helps flush out harmful toxins, increases metabolism, etc.
      1. In a small recent study, researchers at the University of Birmingham in the UK found that, on average, people who drank water 30 minutes before some or all of their three meals a day lost between 5 and 9 pounds over the course of about three months. [source]
    3. If you’re anything like me and don’t like drinking plain water or just need something to help boost your weight loss process try the SlimQuick products
      1. I like their products because they:
        • Increase Metabolism
        • Reduce Appetite
        • Boost Energy
        • Reduce Excess Water
        • Support Hormones
        • Reduce Stress

These are the main ways one can really loss weight and I hope these have helped. Always remember that the number on your scale doesn’t define who you are and if you didn’t reach your goal, it’s ok, tomorrow is a new day. Stay beautiful ♥

How to manage school and a job.

Lifestyle., School., Tips.

1. Plan Ahead
Before getting a job, think about how you will handle juggling your work and your schoolwork. Talking to a counselor, teacher or parent about working can help you figure out how to balance these two activities. Explain what you need to get from working and what kind of job you want and ask questions like these:
• How can I manage my time to make school and a job work for me?
• What type of job will work best with my schedule, skills and personality?

2. Pick a job with flexible hours
There are plenty of great part-time jobs out there that can accommodate a schedule that’s filled with classes, club meetings, sports, etc. A few good places to start are restaurants, tutoring places like Kumon, retail jobs, etc.
If you choose to work on school nights, just be sure to get a lot of sleep either after school or whenever you’re free. The amount of sleep you need to lead a productive day varies depending on the individual, but most experts recommend getting at least seven hours a night. I’m pretty sure you aren’t about to get any nap breaks at your job.
Also, be make sure you don’t over-commit to working more than you’re comfortable with, or your life could become a slippery slope of missed classes, low grades, broken promises and a Starbucks dependency. It’s better to target a lower number of hours to work in the beginning. If you get in a groove and are comfortable taking on more, you can ask your employer if there are more shifts available.

3. Start slowly.
Start by doing a couple of shifts a week then gradually work up the hours. Don’t just start with a whole load, and stress yourself out.

4. Make a schedule and stick to it.
You’re not going to successfully juggle work with your other priorities unless you exercise a little discipline. This doesn’t have to be as painful and horrible as it sounds. Before you take on a new job, sit down and write down all of your priorities like your homework, studying for tests, exercise, etc, followed by about how much time they take up each week.  Then figure out how much time you need to relax, hang out with your friends, etc, etc. Now crunch the numbers and see how much time you’ll have to work. Even if it’s only enough for a shift or two a week of work, that’s fine. That is, of course unless you need to work a certain amount each month to pay for college and other cost-of-living expenses, in which case you might have to sacrifice on socializing time.
Once you have your schedule sorted out, it’s important to stick to the rules. If you decided the only way to make it all work is to devote one weekend night each week to doing school work, use this time efficiently and don’t get distracted by a “Pretty Little Liars” marathon or something. By developing these time management skills now, you’ll be ready down the road when life throws even more responsibilities your way.

5. Take assignments with you.
While I advocate for keeping work and school separate, I do think you can fit in your schoolwork at other times during the day. For instance, if you’re sitting at your daughter’s soccer practice or folding laundry, use the time to study. By getting your schoolwork done a little at a time, you’ll avoid cramming the night before your chemistry exam or pulling an all-nighter to write a 20-page paper on Shakespear.

6. Be realistic. Don’t over-commit yourself, thinking you can do it all. Get in the habit of saying “no” if you know that your schedule won’t allow a lot of additional commitments.

7. Don’t stress yourself out.
This is really important!
Make sure to get enough sleep, and enough time to do homework.
Manage your time properly.

8. Get help.
Reach out to your friends or family when you really need help with all your workload. Ask them with helping you out with stuff, if you have a huge workload.

Well I hope this helps. If you have any additional helpful tips, comment below and I’ll add them (:

How to make your hair grow faster.

Beauty., Health and Wellness., raving reviews

Screenshot 2015-12-27 at 6.27.37 PM

Hey guys, I’ve been busy working on some new things for my blog (like ^) so that’s why I haven’t been as active but I’m back and I’m here with a few great tips.

  • DO NOT WASH YOUR HAIR EVERYDAY
    • I cannot stress this enough. Just like our skin, our hair can get dry but unlike our skin we have limited things we can apply to our hair so prevent it from drying out. When you wash your hair with shampoo, it strips your hair of it’s natural oils. Your body then thinks, “omg their hair is too dry, lets me produce some oils to moisturize their scalp”; eventually after a while of too much shampooing your hair is used to producing so many oils that you’ll have to shampoo even more which will just dry out your hair, ruin it and prevent it from growing.
  • Eat foods that have a lot of protein.
    • Your hair is made up of keratin (a protein that’s made up of amino acids). The more protein you the longer your hair will get and just remember the healthier you eat, the better you’ll look, your body, skin, hair, nails, etc.
  • Limit the heat and chemical you use on your hair or else your hair will get brittle and start breaking.
  • Try to deep condition your hair once a week. I love to use coconut oil 30 minutes a week before I shower then I wash it off. I also love coconut oil because it has so many beauty benefits. Check them out here.
  • Damaged hair takes a long time to fix and if your hair is damaged it takes it a long time to repair and unless your hair is healthy, it’ll never grow.
    • Because of this you shouldn’t try to manipulate it too much and this includes getting it colored, a perm, etc.
  • Get a lot of vitamins into your body through your diet or supplements.
    • Omega 3 is one of the best things that can help you get and maintain smooth and shiny hair. It’s known for its ability to combat dry and brittle hair, hair loss, dry, flaky scalp and reduced circulation to the scalp. The benefits of omega-3 EFAs include adding luster, sheen and elasticity to your hair. Both DHA and EPA are vital for the nourishment of hair follicles. Omega-3 can help restart hair growth, help hair grow quicker and stronger and even prevent or reverse hair loss. (If you want to read more about the science behind it, read all about it here).
      • As a Muslim, it’s really hard for me to find supplements that don’t contain pork or just meat products in general so when I found this Omega-3 I was thrilled. It also has Omega 6, Omega 9, DHA, EPA and unlike other fish oil supplements I’ve had, this doesn’t taste weird or leave a lingering smell. Honestly, all their products are amazing.
  • Try to brush your hair often so it doesn’t knot up and force you to pull at it (which makes a lot of your hair rip off.
    • I’ve heard a lot of people raving about The Wet Brush but personally since I don’t have too much of a problem with my hair, I never had to resort to buying one but if you need it, you definitely should buy it.
  • Don’t always keep your hair in the same style, part etc. After a while, your hair gets pulled too much, your hair gets weak and your hair starts thinning which contradicts the whole idea of making your hair grow faster.

Hope these helped,

Travel beauty and health tips. (Especially for long airplane rides)

Beauty., Lifestyle., Tips.

Traveling can be a hassle and create many problems, especially towards your daily routines and skin. Here are some tips that will help you out a bit:

  1. Because of the recycled air and lack of water on the plane you need as much hydration as you can get. Find a good moisturizer that is oil based or is very hydrating. The Trilane Retinol + Vitamin C and Squalane moisturizer is filled with vitamins and a little goes a long way, it makes my face seem softer and hydrated in the mornings. If you have an oilier face then try the RegenFX Skin Care System, it’s lighter and better to use as at night treatments. The whole system will make your face look fresher and your skin look brighter and this is just what you need after you get off a long flight
  2. Before you leave the house, deep condition your hair with a really moisturizing conditioner so your hair doesn’t frizz up and get staticky. I like to apply coconut oil to my hair half an hour or an hour before I shower, but any normal conditioner will work.
  3. Try to book a flight after 10 pm so that you can get some sleep on the plane right after you get on and your sleep schedule won’t be messed up right away. I like to use Dr. Xu’s Restful Sleep Natural Sleep Aid Supplement (Use the code SAVEREST to save 20% on your purchase) and this is made with chi, herbs and vitamins which help me wake up feeling fresh, not groggy.
  4. Bring some dry shampoo (make sure this fits into your one quart sized bag) and apply some dry shampoo when your hair gets oily and weird.
  5. When you get onto the plane, run some water through your hair and tie it up in a bun so when you take it out after a few hours (do it when you’re an hour from landing) and your hair will be voluminous and have nice curls/waves instead of being flat from being against a headrest for so long.
  6. Find a serum or something with Vitamin C to keep your collagen production going to your face looks bright and fresh when you get off. The one from OZ Naturals is really great. Use this is you don’t need anti-aging and this if you do.
  7. Get oil blotting sheets and if you don’t want to, most planes have seat covers and those get the job done. Plus it’s completely sanitary so don’t freak out.
  8. Place a cotton pad on top of all of your powdered compacts, this prevents your blushes, shadow, powdered foundations etc from breaking.
  9. Try to buy products that contain more than one product like the Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope products or the Naked Palettes. These products contain many shades and so you don’t have to take many along with you.
  10. Keep your liquid products and gel products in contact containers because they’re the perfect size.

Top 10 skincare tips for people with sensitive skin.

Beauty., Health and Wellness.

I’ve had sensitive skin forever and it’s one of the most annoying skin care problems after dry skin. You can’t use scented things or else your skin gets red, your face reacts weirdly to products everyone else can use and it’s just plain annoying.

Since I’ve had it, I’ve learned many things from Dermatologists, skin specialists and my own experience so here are some of my tips:

  1. Don’t use scented products on your skin and this includes perfumes, body sprays, soaps etc. These almost always causes irritation and some amount of inflammation to sensitive skin. If you really love scents like I do though then just lay your clothes down onto your bed or somewhere and lightly spray it with whatever. Give the scent a few minutes to dry on the fabric before getting dressed. If you do this, it’ll prevent direct contact with your skin which will prevent irritations.
  2. DOVE is your best friend. I’ve been using the Dove Sensitive Skin body wash for years now. You know when you use other body washes your skin feels like it has some weird residue left over? That’s soap scum and Dove is one soap that doesn’t have that (Watch it and see). Try to switch to liquid soaps for your body instead of bars because bars just sit in your tub and collect bacteria over time and that rubs onto your skin causing irritation.
  3. Even though you have sensitive skin, you should still have a wash your face at least once daily. Wash your face in the morning after you wake up to get rid of the oils and bacteria that got onto your face at night from your hair, pillow, hands etc. Wash your face again at night to get rid of the other dirt and bacteria that came onto your face throughout the day. Use a gentle cleaner to remove dirt, oils etc without stripping your skin. Brands like Simple or Cetaphil are gentle but still clean really well.
  4. Try not to pile on makeup and if you can, don’t wear any at all. If you really feel like you need it, get one that’s lightweight and doesn’t clog your skin. Go to a makeup specialist (Sephora is a great place to start) and ask them for what they recommend.
  5. DO NOT BUY FULL-SIZE PRODUCTS WITHOUT TRYING IT FIRST. I cannot stress this enough, there are so many things I’ve gotten because of ads and whatever and when I tried it, it didn’t work well for my skin and I ended up not using it. So many places offer samples of products, just ask. Sometimes I go into Sephora, talk to a consultant and just get 5-10 samples to try out; it doesn’t hurt and it definitely will save your bank account.
    1. If you don’t have a Sephora near you, you could at least find products specific to your needs here.
    2. Make sure to test products on somewhere like your upper arm or the side of your neck, somewhere, if you do get a rash, it’s easy to cover up.
  6. I would say to keep away from the sun but we all know that can’t happen so invest in a really good moisturizer with SPF. I LOVE the Algenist Lightweight UV Defense Fluid. It’s SPF 50 and feels like nothing. I don’t know about you guys, but I hate applying lotion or sunscreen onto my face especially in the summer because my face gets greasy and oily so I just skip it all together. DON’T DO THAT.  Too much heat damages skin cells and can often cause skin rashes and diseases.
  7. Watch what you eat but it’s not just what you’re eating, some external factors such as smoking, stress, lack of sleep or excessive pollution can cause sensitive skin to flare up with rashes and may also cause even bigger skin problems.
  8. Always choose cosmetic products which are “Fragrance-free” because most of the cosmetics with fragrance may react on your sensitive skin to create problems. It is much better if you choose products labeled “No artificial colors”.
  9. Exfoliate your skin with something fine. This gets rid of the dead skin on your face to moisturizers can actually benefit you and go into your skin instead of just sitting on top of the dead skin doing nothing. The Ancient Orient Rice Enzyme Dermafoliant is the best one I’ve come across so far. It’s a dupe of the far more expensive Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder.
  10. Make a Rosewater soothing face mist. This will help hydrate you skin, fight acne and eczema, heal scars etc.

DIY: Rosewater Soothing Face Mist.

Beauty., Health and Wellness.

Rosewater has astringent properties and works well as a facial toner. But that’s not all, when it’s combined with witch hazel, rosewater acts as a great cleanser, removing oil and dirt accumulated in clogged pores and thus creating clear skin. If you want to kick it up a notch you can add in Aloe Vera which moisturizes, treats acne and also evens out your skin tone.

What you need:

  • A dozen freshly picked organic rose petals
  • A measuring cup/small funnel
  • A small pot with glass lid
  • A small glass bowl
  • Distilled water
  • A spray bottle
  • (optional) Organic Aloe Vera or its juice
  • (optional) Witch hazel
  1. Wash all the flowers and try to find one that’s organic and not synthetically dyed because it is going onto your face.
  2. Pull the petals off by grabbing the bottom of the bud and separating the petals from the stem; then put all the rose petals on the pot.
  3. Pour enough water into your pot so that 3/4 of the pot is filled but not too much or else your spray will be watered down. *If you want, now is the time to add the witch hazel and/or Aloe Vera; I recommend you add about 2-3 tablespoons of each*
  4. Put the bowl inside the pot and put the lid on upside down; this ensures you get the purest form of the rose water.
  5. Let the water boil for about half an hour or until your petals lose its color. (If you’re impatient like me, put some ice cubes on top of the upside-down lid)
  6. Once done, pour the liquid from the bowl into your spray bottle with the help of a measuring cup or a funnel.
  7. You can also pour it into a clean ice cube tray and just rub it onto your face when you feel really hot and grimy.

MAKE SURE TO REFRIDGERATE.This has a shelf-life of about 2-3 week or until it turns into a weird yellow color and starts to smell.

Eyeliner for your Eye shape.

Beauty.

There are many tips you can use to make your eyeliner pop. Here are some that will accentuate your eye size and type.

Asymmetrical Eyes: If one is slightly larger than the other, you’ll want to use a liner technique that will help you correct and equal out both your eyes. Jeung suggests using a black kohl liner, like Rimmel London ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eye Liner in “Black,” along the lashline, from the inner corner to the outer corner, increasing the width at the outer corner on the slightly uneven eye only to make it appear wider and even.

Close-Set Eyes: The key to this eye shape is creating the illusion that your eyes are wider apart than they are. First, use concealer on the inner corners to lighten and open up the eye area. Try NudeStix Concealer Pencil. Then, on the outer third part of your eye, create a “V” shape using a black liner, and then trace the shape with a jumbo liquid liner to make a thick wing, such as Rimmel London ScandalEyes Jumbo Liquid Eye Liner in “Black.”

Monolids: Extend the product up the upper lid so the fold on the lower lid doesn’t hide your liner. Jeung recommends using a waterproof black pencil, like Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, along the lashline from inner to outer corner and stopping where the eye ends. You can also smudge it out at the outer corners, using a small smudger brush, like Bobbi Brown Eye Smudge Brush”.

Wide Eyes: Wide eyes can handle a lot of look, so go bold. Jeung loves a really thick cat-eye on this eye shape. Using a waterproof black liner pencil, create a tiny “V” in the inner corner of your eye. Then, go over the line with a liquid liner, like Ciatè Double Lines Liner” (a waterproof, dual-sided liner with a soft kajal eyeliner on one end and ultra-black liquid liner on the other), and wing it out at the outer corner for a patent-leather look.

Small Eyes: To widen small eyes, apply a taupe shadow over the eyelid all the way up to the crease. Next, along the lashline, use a black kohl pencil. Try Chanel Le Crayon Khôl Intense Eye Pencil in “Noir.” Smudge it with your fingertip and top with a dark brown eye shadow, increasing the amount of shadow at the outer corners. Try Nars Matte Eyeshadow in “Coconut Grove.” Along the lower lashline, repeat the black liner/brown shadow combo. Lastly, apply a light pink blush, like Benefit Cosmetics Coralista, using a fluffy eyeshadow brush to the upper outer corners of your eyelid, which instantly opens up the eye.

Almond Eyes: To accentuate almond eyes, line the inner upper and lower lashes with a waterproof kohl pencil the entire way around your eyes, then trace the outer corners of the upper and lower lashlines, smudging it with a smudged brush. Then, top it with a gunmetal gray shadow to soften it and use bronzer to accentuate the crease for a natural effect. Try Charlotte Tilbury Rock ‘N’ Kohl Bedroom Black Iconic Liquid Eye Pencil, and MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow in “Scene.”

Getting perfectly smooth shaved legs.

Beauty., DIY'S, Health and Wellness., Tips.

Woot woot, summer is here and that means shorts, beaches and smooth shaved legs.

Here’s how:

1. Start off  soaking your legs in some warm water to soften the leg hair a little bit. This will also open up your pores which will give you a closer shave. Don’t use hot water because that will dry out your skin and will eventually cause razor burns and flaky skin.

2. Liberally apply shaving cream to avoid razor bumps. Lather it onto your legs like it was shampoo. I use the Smoothing Shaving Gel with Soy from Target but any shaving gel will do.

3. Shave against the hair growth in long strokes. I find it easier to just wipe your thumb down the razor to get the hairs off the razor then wash that off instead of washing the razor off in between shaves. I really like the BIC Soleil Glow Disposable Razor and I’ve used it for a few (about 20+) and the blades are still fine. Plus I didn’t really get razor burns with this, it does the job and I like it.

4. Once you’ve shaved both of your legs, exfoliate them with a good body scrub. I use the Adovia Dead Sea Salt Scrub. This is really great because it eliminates the need to apply moisturizers after, gets rid of dead skin and also is filled with essentials oils. It really softens my body after I use it and also has a really nice smell which lasts for a few days.

Before I used to use the Barefoot exfoliating polish and it does an ok job, it exfoliates a little and smells nice but I still have to moisturize after and it runs out really quickly. If you should get anything, get the Adovia one above, that does a lot of things and also will last a while.

5. Wash off the exfoliator and shave once again. If you use the Adovia you won’t have to apply another layer of shaving cream because your legs will already have a smooth oil-based layer which will assist the shave. Doing this will ensure that any ingrown hairs that were exposed after exfoliating are removed.

6. Wash off your legs with cold water to close your pores and again if you don’t have the Adovia, you’ll have to moisturize your legs to make sure they stay silky smooth.

&& that’s it.

Trying to get rid of acne? Take a look at this.

Beauty., raving reviews, Reviews and Unboxings

acne aisha 011

A few years ago I had smooth and clear skin but hormones started kicking in and sadly, I didn’t anymore. I’ve been trying many things and these have worked the best for me so I thought I should share.

At night, I use the Trilane Retinol +Vitamin C moisturizer with an added drop of Radha Tea Tree oil. Keep in mind that Tea Tree oil is REALLY strong and needs to be diluted, you shouldn’t just apply it to anything as it is.

The Trilane moisturizer is a good product you should invest in because it works both as a serum and a moisturizer. It noticeably made a difference on my skin. My skin seems healthier and brighter than ever; another great thing is that it didn’t clog my pores. The great thing about this that it really does go a long way. If I put a drop onto my hands, I can use it all over my face and still have some left over so I know I can use this for a while.

Use this code to save 20%: SAVERETC

Another great product is the tea tree oil. Here are some benefits of it:

  1. Helps heal and soothe sunburns.
  2. Heals skin infections naturally.
  3. Relieves itchiness from rashes as well as helps reduce rashes.
  4. Can be used as an all-purpose cleaner: Fill a spray bottle with 1-2 tsp. of tea tree oil and the rest of the bottle with water.
  5. Treats acne.
  6. Helps to prevent lice naturally; just add a few drops to your shampoo.
  7. A few drops in your pets’ crates or beds keep the fleas away.
  8. Removes ticks; just add to skin, and the little stinker will usually unlatch.
  9. Cures toenail fungus and Athlete’s foot.
  10. Helps remove skin tags.
  11. Naturally cures bad breath. (Swish some tea tree oil and water in you mouth.)
  12. Can be used in a homemade toothpaste recipe.
  13. Has been found as an effective treatment for warts.
  14. Soothes insect bites.
  15. Treats ringworm.
  16. Treats psoriasis and other skin conditions.
  17. Relieves asthma or other breathing conditions when a few drops are added to a humidifier.
  18. Works as antiseptic on small cuts.
  19. Keeps your bathroom fresh.
  20. Relieves earaches; mix 1 drop of tea tree oil with 1 tsp. olive oil, drop mixture into the ear and then remove by tilting head.
  21. Freshen laundry: Add a few drops in your washing machine to scent your clothes. Also, if you forgot to put the clothes in the dryer, run again with tea tree oil to remove mildew. You can also scent wool dryer balls with tea tree oil.
  22. Helps freshen carpet.
  23. Can be used in several homemade kitchen cleaners.
  24. Cleans mold: Mix apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil and scrub mold; place outside to sun-dry.
  25. Can be used in a homemade natural deodorant.

This bottle is WAY bigger than any other bottles I’ve seen so that’s a plus. Keep in mind it does have a strong, dirt/ pine-sol smell.

Hope this helps,

Packing for a trip.

Lifestyle.

Ahh, summer is almost here and I’m super excited to go traveling. I’m also planning to take a few college courses online so this should be fun.

  1.  Clothes
    1. Depending on how long your trip is, pack accordingly. If it’s a shorter trip feel  bring an outfit for every day, plus two more outfits just in case. If your trip is about a month or more, try to pack things like a plain white tee and a bunch of basic pieces so you can layer and change your look more often without having to take too many things.
      1. Make sure to consider where you’re going and take a look at the average weather temperatures.
    2. MAKE SURE TO ROLL YOUR CLOTHES TO SAVE SPACE. I’ve tried this so many times. If I fold my clothes and put it in a bag/luggage then do it all again, but this time by rolling, I can fix at least 5 or 7 more clothing pieces.
    3. Put your shoes in shower caps to prevent your clothes from getting dirty.
    4. If you have lighter clothes or really any clothes with sequins and stuff, turn it inside out to prevent it from getting dirty and your sequins from falling out
  2. Toiletries // Essentials
    1. Even if you don’t think you’ll be on your period, bring a few pads just in case because it’s better to be safe than sorry. Personally, I’ve started using Menstrual cups and they’re so convenient.
    2. Put your toothbrush and paste into a ziploc and keep it in your carry on.
      1. Make sure to also bring these:
        1. Lotion
        2. Shampoo/conditioner
        3. Your hair brush
        4. Deodorant
        5. DRY SHAMPOO (WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE)
      2. MAKE SURE IF YOU TAKE A LIQUID LIKE PRODUCT, get some plastic wrap, unscrew the bottle, cover the top and screw the top back on to prevent leakage.
  3. Electronics
    1. Definitely buy a Power Pack, it’s so helpful.
    2. If you have a camera that requires batteries, bring some extra batteries along.
    3. Remember to bring all your chargers. DO NOT FORGET.
  4. Accessories
    1. Put all your stud earring onto buttons
    2. String your necklaces through straps to prevent getting tangles
  5. MAKE A LIST or take a picture of everything you pack
    1. This is really helpful so you don’t forget anything when you’re coming back.

Take a carry-on bag and try not to take a heavy purse or else you’ll dread it. Try to find a medium-sized bag with wheels like this one:

In there, pack things like:

  • A cardigan
  • Small head pillow
  • Small blanket/throw/quilt
  • Snacks
  • A few books
  • Your chargers
  • Your laptop
  • Your “beauty bag” of things like deodorant, lotion, things you use day to day, etc.

If you do carry a purse, keep these in it:

  • Gum (helps your ear pop on the plane to help get rid of discomfort)
  • A digital camera (If you have a DSLR put it in your carry-on
  • A water bottle that has good structure (I always buy a Vitamin Water before I travel because I know it won’t get a dent easily or break) [Don’t take a reusable one because you might lose it]
    • After you go through security you can buy any drinks or food and bring it onto the plane but if you bring it before security, they won’t let you in.
      • You can also take empty water bottle through security and fill it up later.
  • Money
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Smaller snacks
  • Your cell phone/iPod
  • Hair ties
  • Pen/Paper/A notebook

MAKE SURE IF YOU TAKE ANY LIQUID-LIKE THINGS IN YOUR CARRY ON IT’S NOT OVER 3 OZ. Also do the plastic trick from above. Anything more than 3 oz must be put in your luggage.

Hope this helped.

Benefits of taking a cold shower.

Beauty.

1//Enhance immunity against infections and cancer

Cold showers are sometimes touted as a preventative tonic for colds, flu, and infections. Researchers believe that the increased metabolic rate, which results from the body’s attempt to warm itself up, activates the immune system and releases more white blood cells in response.

2//Give your glands a boost, improving hormonal activity

3//Jump-start your mood and motivation

4//Crank up your metabolism to fight type 2 diabetes, obesity, gout, rheumatic diseases, depression, and more Normalize your blood pressure

5//Decrease chronic pain

6//Train and improve your blood circulation

7//Detoxify your body

8//Fight fatigue

9//Strengthen exhausted, irritable nerves

10//Rejuvenate, heal, and tone the skin

11//Deepen your breathing

12//Help with insomnia Improve kidney function

13//Reduce swelling and edema Improve lymphatic circulation, thereby increasing immune function

14//Reduce stress by regulating your autonomic nervous system

15//Regulate temperature, fighting chronically cold hands and cold feet and excessive sweating

16//Keep your hair healthy Improve hemorrhoids and varicose veins

17//Reduce aches and pains

So why not?

My skincare routine + mini reviews.

Beauty., raving reviews

Everyone’s skin is different and reacts to every product differently than others but if you have combination, dry or oily skin these will help you because I’ve faced all.

(I’ll write if a certain product is best suited for what type of skin type. If nothing is mentioned, all skin types will like it)

Ok so let’s start off what I use when I first wake up. I usually just wash my face to emulsify the oils and then wipe it off with a towel. Then I apply the Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer. It’s a drugstore product but unlike the products below, this is a more natural product which has no harsh chemicals, dyes, or other harmful things for your face. That was a big part of why I switched to this. It also works as well as the products below, moisturizes really well but doesn’t make my skin oily, plus its way more affordable.

Displaying IMG_3543.JPG

Displaying IMG_3547.JPG

Displaying IMG_3548.JPG

Before I used to use Tatcha Moisture Rich Silk Cream in the winter (The sample size was only .5 oz, but it lasts a while) and the Clinique moisturizing gel in the summer. The thing was though, the Tatcha one is good for drier and sensitive skin types. It really replenishes is and makes your skin better. This is a product you’ll have to invest in because it costs $150 for a 1.87 oz tub, BUT I promise you, it lasts a long time. I had the .5 oz one and used it for months (I still have some left over after using it all winter).

Displaying FullSizeRender.jpg

If you have oilier and more acne prone skin, I suggest you get the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. This literally feels like putting water on your skin. I use it in the summer a lot because it doesn’t make my face breakout and in a weird way it controls the oil on my face.

Throughout the day, I don’t really moisturize as much. Sometimes I do it after I’ve been out all day and kinda just wash up a bit, but most times I just moisturize in the mornings and at night.

Before I go to bed I wash my face with AVEENO Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub. Honestly for me, face washes don’t really do much besides get rid of oil and freshen up my face about it, that’s about it. This is great if you have oily skin, darker spots on your face or both even.

Displaying IMG_3555.JPG

I used to use the Olay Foaming Face Wash for sensitive skin, but it left a weird residue behind. It’s not really noticeable at all, but the weather started to get warmer so I started using the Aveeno above. That’s the only complaint I have about it though. This is a really nice product to you if you have drier, sensitive skin. It doesn’t dry your skin out more than it already is and if you have something like eczema on your face, this would work really well.

Once I wash my face, I like to apply this Vitamin C serum called Radha Beauty Vitamin C Serum. It’s really nice and light enough for everyday use. It smells a little like coconut oil and quickly absorbs into your skin. I love that it also doesn’t leave it feeling greasy at all so that’s amazing. The thing is with this, I really love that this quickly produces results. I had a few breakouts on my skin and within a week they were gone with no scars. A few of my older scars also had started to fade.

Displaying FullSizeRender.jpg

After this, I apply the Simple Moisturizer from above.

A few times a week I like to use the Clinique Clarifying Lotion #2. This is really great. I didn’t really see much of an improvement on my skin after using this, but the stuff that comes off with it is AMAZING. I use it at night once a week after I wash my face. You just pour some onto a cotton pad and wipe it all across your face and neck. The amount of gunk that comes off is so surprising. I don’t even wear makeup and so many things come off from dirt left behind even after washing my face with soap, to the color left on my neck from a scarf which I can’t see.

I still use this because I feel so much better knowing all these hidden things are off my face. They also have one for dry skin and oily skin. (Mine is combination). It literally feels like wiping water on your face and it kinda just dries away.

Displaying FullSizeRender.jpg

Every three weeks I use the Adovia Dead sea facial mask. It’s nice and thick and definitely smells like mud. Even after one use, my skin feels brighter and looks cleaner. I really recommend this to anyone because it kinda just gives your skin a little boost.

Displaying IMG_3545.JPG

Every six weeks I like to DermaRoll. If you guys are interested in a more in-depth post on that, comment below. I like to use the OZ Naturals Vitamin C serum. This one is a little bit thicker than the one mentioned above.

If you’re lazy like me and don’t always have time to sit and apply products, get this. Even if I don’t Dermaroll, I use this once a week at night without lotion to let this just sink into my skin. It’s really nice and does what it’s supposed to, clear up my skin.

Last-minute Mother’s day gift ideas.

DIY'S

For those of you who didn’t know, Mother’s Day on 5/11 (this Sunday) and as soon as people hear about something like these they always think about materialistic things. This year, try something new and different instead of just buying her the typical flower bouquet.

– Take her out to a spa and just hang out with her all day

– Surprise her with a shopping spree

– If she likes floral scents, ask around or buy a new bottle of her signature perfume

– Make your own beauty products for her:

Homemade Coconut Lime Sugar Scrub & A Shaving Technique For Soft Silky Legs

So many easy ones can me found here on Pinterest.

According to a Fox article: “Nearly 9 in 10 Americans think mothers return their Mother’s Day gifts in exchange for something else. And most moms do, at least on occasion.

There’s nothing wrong with that, unless, of course, the moms had asked for the gift specifically! We found one husband and wife who know that scenario very well.

“I bought her a Mother’s Day gift probably four years ago that’s she never used,” said husband Michael Shelton. “She wanted it so badly. She never used it. It was a sewing machine.”

“I should use the sewing machine he bought me, and this summer I will, nearly five years later,” laughed Detra Shelton. “I swear!”

Whether you keep the gift or not, what’s the average amount a person spends on Mother’s Day? It’s about $65.”

Here are some more ADORABLE Mother’s Day gift ideas you can DIY (make yourself) [Because it’s the effort and love put into something that counts]

Good luck,

Getting Rid of Split ends

Beauty.

Things you’ll need:
Wide toothed comb
Pair of hair scissors
Leave in conditioner and hair detangler
Regular hair trims
Conditioner
Weekly hair mask
Proper hairbands (if used)

1// Identify whether you have split ends in your hair. There are several types:

– The generic end split
– Splits occurring multiple times up the same strand of hair
– A split occurring in the middle of the hair strand that will appear as a hole if the strand is bunched up

2// Cut a snip of hair off. Cut no more than 1/4 or inch. You can do this as much as you want depending on how bad your hair is.

-Single strand knots (not really split ends) which occur most often in dry, curly hair

3// Get your hair cut regularly, meaning every six to eight weeks. All hair gets damaged after a while. Get a trim of at least 1/4 to 1 inches, and you should have solved the problem. It will remove split ends and keep your hair healthy and growing strong. Note that you really only need to trim when you have splits on the ends of the hair, so your schedule may vary with your hair type, how you treat your hair and your style goals.

4// Cut them yourself between haircuts using a pair of hair shears. Cut about 1/4″ above the split of a single strand; there may even be a small ball above the split. If you don’t cut above the damage, the split will reappear.

5// Don’t rely on products that claim to “heal” split ends. They can seal the split end to help it look healthier, but they aren’t reversing the damage. These products can, however, help prevent future damage to otherwise healthy hair.

Prevention:

Here are some of the ways the hair is damaged every day and how to prevent damage from these factors and in turn split ends.

Chemicals
Most kinds of chemicals are going to damage your hair to some extent. Chemicals from getting a perm, having your hair highlighted, colored, etc., or even chlorine in bath or pool water all count.
Try to steer clear of chemicals. Natural hair is beautiful. If you absolutely must color your hair, search for the gentlest coloring agent you can find. If you are going to be using chemicals on your hair, be sure to condition your hair more often.

Protect your hair before swimming in a pool, ocean, or lake. This could include: using a leave-in conditioner, oiling your hair, or using a swim cap. Rinsing your hair thoroughly before swimming will also help it absorb fewer chemicals. Be sure to rinse and shampoo your hair as soon as possible after swimming.

Find out if the water you use to wash your hair is harmful.
There can be damaging chemicals in the water you wash your hair with…mainly chlorine. There are filters that will reduce the amount of chlorine in your water.

Brushing and Combing
Many people don’t realize just how fragile the ends of the hair are. Being too rough with a brush or comb, or brushing or combing too often can damage your hair.
Stop teasing or backcombing your hair. This is the most damaging type of brushing. It pulls up the scales of your hair and when you comb/brush that section again the scales break off.

Find a hair friendly comb and/or brush. If you have thicker hair you may need to use a pick or wide-toothed comb. Combs, in general, are more gentle. Your brush or comb should aid you in untangling your hair, not pulling it out.

Never over brush. 100 brushstrokes is not necessary, and may lead to more splits than anything else.

Comb the hair gently. Start at the bottom and work your way up. When you encounter a tangle, don’t rip the comb/brush through it, stop and untangle with your fingers and then proceed. You have to be extremely gentle while untangling wet hair. Curly hair types may require combing the hair when it is still wet.

The Sun
Protect your hair from the Sun. Ultraviolet rays can be as damaging to your hair as your skin.
Wear a hat. If your hair is super long and/or thick, be sure to get a hat that you will be able to fit all your hair into (preferably in a bun).

Look for conditioners that contain sunscreen or mix sunscreen and conditioner together and leave that in your hair.

Washing and Drying
Incorrect washing and washing with shampoos that are too harsh or contain certain ingredients can be damaging to your hair. Rubbing your hair with a towel to dry it can cause nasty damage to your hair. Using a hair dryer on your hair too often will also cause damage.
Buy a good shampoo and conditioner and experiment with what works best for your hair. This may include not washing it every day–possibly conditioning it will suffice.

Wash your hair properly. It is best to only wash the scalp hair and leave the length to hang down your back and the length should not be piled on top of your head. When you rinse the shampoo out of your hair, the shampoo will run down the length, that is as much washing as the ends of your hair need. Conditioner should then be applied to the length to soak for a while before rinsing out. Hot water strips away moisture so rinse your hair with the coolest water you can stand.

Deep condition regularly. If your conditioner regimen isn’t working, try a “deep condition” once or twice a month. This involves putting a leave-in conditioner or oil on your hair and leaving it in for a while. Oils like jojoba and coconut oil are fantastic for this.

Dry hair gently. Vigorously rubbing your hair dry with a towel is not a good idea. Dripping wet hair should be gently squeezed with a towel to get rid of the excess water. Once the excess water is removed, it is best to let your hair air dry naturally. [I have a bad habit of doing this and definitely need to stop]

Tone down the drying. If you are using a dryer or hot tongs regularly, your hair will start to show some damage–the hot air removes moisture from your hair. Using too hot a setting or holding the dryer too close to your hair will also cause damage. I honestly don’t remember the last time I hair dried my hair or even used a hot tool on it and my hair is good but my mom, on the other hand, blow-dries her hair ever single day and it’s really rough. [Ironically, she’s doing it right now]

Tips and warnings:

For oily hair try washing your scalp with a gentle shampoo and use a light conditioner on the length on a daily basis.

For curly hair you have to be very gentle. Let your hair air dry if you live in a warmer arid climate. Use a blow dryer on medium to low with a diffuser if you live a cooler more humid climate. Comb out tangles in the shower while you still have conditioner in your hair.

For dry hair try these tips. Do not dry your hair all the way, it tends to dry it out more. Use coconut, avocado, or jojoba oil overnight as a deep conditioning treatment.

Eat a balanced diet. Getting all the vitamins and sufficient protein will ensure that your body produces the healthiest hair possible. Vitamins sold at drugstores can also help increase growth.

Do not cut your hair without the proper tools. A good majority of the general population do not have scissors sharp enough for cutting hair. Buy a pair of hair-cutting scissors, and use them only for hair. Dull scissors will only encourage the hair to split further.

Be sure not to fall into the bad habit of taking a section of your ponytail in each hand below the hair band and pulling the two sections apart to tighten the ponytail. This is equivalent to back brushing and very damaging!

Do not straighten or curl your hair everyday once every two weeks or maybe even once a month depending upon your requirement.

Just try to take care of your hair because it’s your hair and remember a little effort now will help so much in the long run. Plus who wouldn’t love to show off their beautiful hair?

Hope this helped you guys.

DIY: Ombre Hair

DIY'S

Here are some ombre color ideas.

So, depending on the items you have, the total amount this would cost is about $8.OO.

Things you’ll need:

  • 20 volume of Peroxide which probably costs around $1.3O
  • A packet of powdered bleach which depending on what brand you get, comes to about $4.OO.
  • 1 toothbrush. Your probably going to want to use a clean new one if its going in your hair. (Get a cheap one from the dollar store or something)
  • Latex gloves
  • Mixing bowl
  • An old t-shirt. (Make sure you use one you don’t want anymore)

Directions:
Okay, read these carefully.

  1. Grab your mixing bowl and pour 2 ounces of the 20 volume peroxide.
  2. Then pour the (1) packet of powdered bleach.
  3. Stir until well blended. Remember bleach smells really bad, so do this outside, or somewhere where the smell will go away easily.
  4. Divide your hair into four parts. (two parts on each side of your head)
  5. Once your done separating your hair, put on latex gloves.
  6. Put some of the mixture on your toothbrush
  7.  Starting at the end of your hair, start brushing the bleach on (downward motion)
  8. Its a lot easier if your put your hair on your hand then start brushing the bleach.
  9. Keep applying the bleach on the toothbrush onto your hair as you gradually go further up.
  10. Once you’ve finished going up as far as you want, continue on to the next section of your hair.
  11. Remember that the whole point of ombre is to look like it’s well-blended, so it’s not important to have the hair be even all the way around. What is important is that the left and right sides of your head have ombre starting at about the same place on your hair on both sides.
  12. After your done with all the sections, put more bleach at the ends of your hair so it looks lighter.
  13. Depending on how light you want your hair, leave the bleach in for about 1O to 2O minutes.
  14. Be sure to keep an eye on your hair! you don’t want it becoming too light.
  15. Once its gotten as light as you want it, wash your hair out with sulfate free shampoo and put leave – in conditioner in your hair.

Hope this helped,

Healthier Carrot Cake (Tastes just as amazing, if not better then the original)

Recipes.
Since Easter is coming up I decided to share this delicious carrot cake recipe I originally found on the Food Network.
I made it a while ago hence why I had to go back and find the recipe but it tastes great.
The buttermilk and lots of grated carrots really keeps the cake super moist without adding much fat. The whole wheat flour and pumpkin pie spice add a great spiced nutty taste (Plus it’s a healthier alternative to white processed flour).

Total Time: 2 hr 30 min

Prep: 20 min

Inactive: 1 hr 30 min

Cook: 40 min

Yield: 16 servings

Level: Easy

INGREDIENTS

  • Vegetable cooking spray
  • cups whole-wheat pastry flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups coarsely grated carrots (about 1pound)

Lighter Cream Cheese Frosting for serving, recipe follows (optional)

  • 12 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese
  • cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9 by 13-inch baking pan with vegetable spray; line it with a piece of parchment paper, leaving an 1-inch overhang on 2 sides and spray the paper.

Whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt and pumpkin pie spice in a medium bowl. In another medium bowl, whisk the eggs and sugars until pale; whisk in the oil, then the buttermilk and vanilla. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and fold in the carrots. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out with a few moist crumbs attached, 35 to 40 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack. Using the parchment overhang, remove the cake from the pan. Frost the cooled cake with the frosting if you want but it really tastes great with it. Cut into 16 (2 by 3-inch) pieces and serve.

Lighter Cream Cheese Frosting:

In a medium bowl, stir together the cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla.

Spread the frosting over the top and sides of the cake.

10 beauty hacks.

Beauty., Tips.

I’ve came across a lot of tips, online articles and YouTube videos on beauty hacks, many of them require a lot of preparation or things that may be hard to find or expensive.

Here are 10 simple beauty hacks you should try:

  1. Keep your lashes curly after curling them by wearing waterproof mascara
  2. Whiten your teeth if you’re wearing bright pink lips. +bright shades tend to bring out yellow shades aka yellow teeth, yikes!
  3. Make your waterline last by first putting your eyeliner and then go over it with a brush & black eye shadow
  4. Start backwards with your cat winged liner!
  5. If you love putting on nail polish but have weak nails, invest in some Julep, Butter London or Inglot nail polishes. They’re breathable meaning they have breakthrough Oxygen Technology powers this fast-drying, long-lasting nail polish to get nails healthy and more beautiful at the same time.
  6. Add some cold water in your shower, it improves your Immune system. If you do this your skin won’t be as dry as normal hot showers.
  7. Give your feet a massage with a tennis ball!
  8. Give your hairbrushes a clean! +just use warm water &shampoo
  9. To get fast curls, braid your hair and flatiron.
  10. Get rid of split ends by twisting ends of your hair and sniping off split ends.

Here are some other helpful little tips:

Planning a Baby shower.

DIY'S, Etc., Planning., Tips.

This was a requested tip from one of my readers and of course I said I would help because I LOVE planning parties and events.

1. First off  decide on what kind of baby shower you want to hold. You may not know this but there are many different types of baby showers. Here are a few you might what to look into:

Shop Couples' Shower Invites

Shop Adoption Announcements

Shop Sip and See Invites

Shop Gender Reveal Invites

2. Use a check list. Since I know how stressed and confusing it can be to make one I have provided a step by step checklist to follow below:

Nine or 10 Weeks Before

  • Determine who hosts. Will it be you alone or will you share duties with a co-host?
  • Set a budget. Are you paying for it all, or are others contributing?
  • Decide where to have the party.A restaurant or catering hall? Your home, or that of a friend or family member? If you need an outside venue, scout around and book it early.  (For more on this, see “Planning a Home Baby Shower,” “Planning a Restaurant Baby Shower,” and “Planning a Destination Baby Shower.”)
  • Pick a date.Consult with the honoree’s mother, sisters, and best friends—especially those who’ll be traveling long distances—to find a time when all can be present. Shoot for a month or two before the due date, or at least a month after the baby comes home.
  • Make a guest list.Decide whether to invite women only or couples, then e-mail the honoree’s closest family members and friends for a list of people they think should be invited (with phone numbers and mailing addresses—as well as e-mail addresses, if you’ll be sending an Evite). Or, if the shower is not a surprise, consult with the guest of honor.

Six Weeks Before

  • It can be traditional (baby-related) or as simple as a garden theme, with baskets of flowers and pots of wheatgrass. Keep in mind the tastes of the expectant mother.

  • Send out invitations.Provide a map or directions to the location and an RSVP deadline of no later than a week before the date. [I suggest Minted, the pictures above]
  • Go shopping.Buy decorations and disposable tableware, plus party favors and goody bags (or order them online).
  • Plan the menu.A brunch or tea party is traditional; a light dinner works for evening showers. Also consider finger foods, a potluck, or a dessert party. If you have a theme, the foods should reflect it. If you’ll be doing the cooking, try to choose dishes that can be made a week ahead and frozen, or at least the day before.  (For more on this, see “Baby Shower Refreshments 101” and “Baby Shower Drinks.”)

A Month Before

  • Line up some extra hands.Arrange for cooking, serving, or bartending help or entertainment, as needed.
  • Order the cake. Also, the flowers, rental chairs, etc.
  • Help with thank-you notes.Print out the invitation list, with complete addresses, to give to the honoree (now, if it’s not a surprise; later, if it is), or buy cards yourself and address them for her.
  • Prepare some games.Stock up on whatever materials are needed to play, such as pencils.

A Week Before

  • Follow up on RSVP stragglers.
  • Put together the goody bags. And if you have prizes for the games, wrap those.
  • Plan to get the gifts home.Lay in a store of handled shopping bags, and use discarded wrapping paper to cushion items. If the honoree lives a plane ride away, have labeled shipping boxes and packing materials ready.
  • Assign a photographer. You’ll want your best shutterbug to take photos or videos.
  • Clean up.If the party is at your home, give it a thorough cleaning.
  • Shop and cook, if needed. If you’ll be doing the cooking, buy all the nonperishables, and prepare as much freezable food as possible.

Three Days Before

  • Complete the grocery shopping.
  •  Finish up the food preparations.

The Day Before

  • Do a quick cleaning sweep.Give your house the once-over.
  • Set up the party space.Arrange the furniture. Put out the favors, prizes, and games, and check to make sure you have everything you need. Set out trash bags where the gifts will be opened. And decorate.

On Party Day

  • Pick up the cake. Also the balloons, flowers, whatever.
  • Designate someone to help the honree. She’ll need a hand to record the gifts and the givers.

Here are some great gifts you can give her:

How to:; Convert youtube songs into itunes ones [so you can put them on your iphone/ipod etc]

Random, Technology., Tips.

I used to do this a long time ago && recently I found the link for it again and decided to share it with you guys. Here’s the steps:

  1. Go to http://www.flv2mp3.com/
  2. Copy and paste the link of your YouTube video with the song and paste it into the bar.
  3. Wait for it to download, or if you want it to be faster press “click the direct link”
  4. Make sure you know where your file is saved or make a separate collection just for music downloads.
  5. Then double click on the one of the icons (there will be two) of the song that has a black background and a blue shield thing on it.
  6. Double-click on it in the folder, and it will go into itunes as a song in your music library.

OPTIONAL *this is only if you want to change the song name, because it will be the name of the video instead of the song name* Right click on the song, go to “Get Info” and go to “Info” .

Change the song name, artist, album, etc.

If you have an iPod nano or touch, I recommend this. It kinda annoys me when i don’t have the right picture and if it bothers you too, go to google images and look up the album cover and then save it to your computer.

Right click on the song again, press “Get Info”. go to artwork, hit “delete” and then click add. and find the picture you saved to your computer.

There we go, it looks like you got it out of itunes.

Homemade Fruit Roll-Ups

DIY'S, Health and Wellness., Recipes.

Ever since I was little, I’ve always loved snacking on stuff like Fruit Roll-Up’s but recently I realized that they were filled with so many random and also harmful things for you.

Take a look at the ingredient list in General Mills Fruit Roll-Ups: pears from concentrate, corn syrup, dried corn syrup, sugar, partially hydrogenated cottonseed oil, citric acid, sodium citrate, acetylated monoglycerides, fruit pectin, dextrose, maltic acid, ascorbic acid, natural flavor and the following food coloring: blue 1, red 40 and yellows 5 and 6.

I mean wouldn’t it just be better to make some of your own? If you’re curious on how to make some then read on:

This recipe is pretty flexible. You have the freedom to pick one fruit or a mix of multiple fruits. You can use fresh, frozen and/or dried fruit. I suggest making a few different trays of fruit at the same time because these won’t last long in your house and though they are VERY simple to make, they do take a long time to set.

  1. Warm the fruit in a pot on the stove and mix it into a puree. If there are seeds in the puree you can pour it into a sieve to get the seeds out.
  2. Spread the puree on a oil-sprayed silpat baking mat or parchment paper (BE SURE to spray! If you don’t it will stick!). [If you’re letting it sit outside you can use plastic wrap]
  3. 1 1/2 cup of fruit puree is enough for 1 baking sheet, and put in the oven on 140°F (or as low as your oven can go. my stove’s lowest temperature is 170). Leave the oven door open a little bit to let the moisture out.
  4. They’re done when the puree isn’t sticky anymore. (You normally need between 5-8 hours depending on the oven and your fruit choices.) [If you live in a warm climate, you can just leave the pan in the sun for the day].
  5. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut them and roll them with wax or parchment paper when they are still warm. Enjoy this healthy alternative.

Some combos you can use:

Yellow: 1 fresh mango, 200 g dried apricots, 1 orange (the juice) (these come out the best!)
Purple: Frozen raspberries, frozen blackberries and 1 banana (these were very seedy, you could replace the raspberries with blueberries)
Green: Kiwi, mango and mint leaves
Blue: Blueberries and grape juice
Red: Strawberries and banana

You can also add spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla pods or mint leaves.

DIY: Banana Face Masks.

Beauty., DIY'S, Health and Wellness., Tips.

LUSH | Oatifix face mask...but i DIY at home as its that simple to make!I know a lot of you guys out there don’t really like bananas but it can do wonders for your face. Bananas are full of beneficial nutrients for skin. They contain vitamin C and antioxidants that are fabulous for softening wrinkles and conditioning skin.

Banana peels are a great solution for reducing the inflammation associated with psoriasis and eczema. The peel also exfoliates skin removing loose, flaky skin simultaneously nourishing it with antioxidants and minerals. Simply store a banana skin in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to three uses.

Here are a few easy face masks for you to try:

Getting rid of wrinkles//

  • Rub a fresh banana peel onto your skin to get rid of wrinkles and fine lines. The antioxidants and acids will loosen flaky dead skin cells revealing smoother and fresher-looking skin.

Getting rid of acne\pimples//

  • Bananas are effective when used as an acne mask. They’re high in potassium which suffocates the bacteria in cells, helping blemishes heal faster. They also have anti-bacterial properties so when combined with honey, essential oils like tea tree, neem and lavender, it can make a simple but powerful acne mask.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 mashed banana
  2. 2 to 3 drops tea tree, neem and/or lavender oil (If you don’t have essential oils handy use a squeeze of lemon or lime juice and a pinch of baking soda or turmeric powder)
  3. 1 tablespoon honey
  4. (OPTIONAL) Add a tablespoon of unsweetened yogurt to boost this recipe

Instructions:

Mix together well and refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Stir and apply to skin leaving on for ten minutes before washing off. You can leave the remaining mixture in an airtight container in the fridge overnight and use again in the morning.  Lemon juice stops the mixture going brown.

Getting rid of itchy\irritated skin//

  • Bananas combined with the soothing properties of oatmeal can make a great mask used to soothe inflamed itchy skin.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 mashed banana
  2. 1 teaspoon of oatmeal (pre-soaked in a little water or calming cooled chamomile tea)
  3. 1 tablespoon honey
  4. (OPTIONAL) Few drops of lavender essential oil

Instructions:

Mix together well and apply to skin leaving on for ten minutes before washing off.

Getting rid of dry skin//

  • This is a very moisturizing banana face mask recipe that is full of benefits for your skin and is worth the effort.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 mashed banana
  2. 1 teaspoon of almond, avocado or olive oil
  3. 1 tablespoon honey
  4. (OPTIONAL) Add a tablespoon of coconut cream
  5. (OPTIONAL) 1 tablespoon mashed avocado

Instructions:

Mix together well and apply to skin leaving on for ten minutes before washing off.

Have fun,

Beauty tricks with Coconut oil.

Beauty., Tips.

Coconut oil is such a versatile product and has been used all over the world for decades. If you thought it was just for cooking boy are you wrong. It’s used to WAY more things and all of these will help you at some point.

1. To soothe dry hands
After you come home from school, get out of the shower, do dishes etc. try using coconut oil as a moisturizer. It can work wonders on your dry hands. And if you cook with coconut oil—you can sub it for butter in baking recipes because it’s solid at room temperature—scoop out a little extra for your hands, too. What’s the harm?

2. As a cheekbone highlighter
Nothing perks up a tired face like a little highlighter, but you don’t need store-bought products to achieve the same effect. Simply sweep a small amount of coconut oil on top of makeup and leave it alone. It looks like your skin but glowier, which is why many natural makeup brands use it as a base ingredient in their formulas. It’s also natural, so isn’t that better? 😉

3. To shave your legs
I hate going out to buy shaving cream or other shaving products -.- Coconut oil, on the other hand tho, is inexpensive, naturally antimicrobial, and smells divine. Plus, its skin-soothing properties will leave your legs looking hydrated (but never greasy).

4. As a deep-conditioner
There’s a reason many conditioners contain coconut oil: It’s better able to penetrate hair (and prevent protein loss) than mineral and sunflower oil. Apply a quarter-size dollop to your hair, comb it, and then pile it into a loose bun. You’ll want to place a soft towel over your pillow or sleep in a shower cap. In the morning, shampoo as usual with a gentle cleanser.

5. To remove eye makeup
Yes, coconut oil even works on waterproof mascara! Put a little on a cotton ball and gently sweep it over your eyes, paying attention to your under-eyes as well. The oil does a great job breaking down waxy, inky eye makeup, and leaves the delicate area hydrated, too. Once you’re done, wash your face as usual.

6. As a body moisturizer
A recent animal study found that when applied topically, virgin coconut oil can speed up wound healing, and a human study found it to be effective in increasing hydration and reducing water loss in seriously dry skin.

7. To clean and hydrate your face
Because coconut oil is naturally antibacterial, antifungal, and moisturizing. Simply rub the oil in circular motions all over your face and neck, giving yourself a gentle massage as you go. When you’re done, wash off the residue with your favorite cleanser. (If you’re adult-acne prone, avoid this technique unless you know your skin tolerates coconut oil.)

8. To add shine
Smooth a tiny amount of coconut oil onto your ends to add a little shine, or on flyaways if you have dark hair. Remember that a dab will do you: Any more and your hair might appear greasy.

9. In a luscious body scrub
Here’s a little DIY beauty secret: That store-bought body scrub you save for special occasions? It’s a waste of money. That’s because you can make one yourself with ingredients you already have in your kitchen. To make your own, melt 1/2 c of coconut oil at very low heat. Pour it over 1 c of brown sugar or salt and stir well. If you have some on hand, add in five drops of your favorite essential oil or some pure vanilla extract for a scrub so fragrant you’ll want to eat it.

10. For a little rubdown
Many store-bought massage oils have either coconut or jojoba oil as their base. Cut out the middleman and go straight to the bottle. It’s slippery, skin-friendly, and moisturizing, too.

Hope this helps a lot of you.

Easy butterscotch cookie bars.

Recipes., Tips., Uncategorized

Salted vanilla-caramel and butterscotch cookie bars that are soft, creamy, and gooey

Ingredients//

  • 25 Lancaster Vanilla-Caramel Soft Cremes
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butterscotch baking chips
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.

2.Remove all of the vanilla-caramel candies from their wrappers. Cut each of the caramels in half and then toss in a small bowl with one tablespoon flour to keep them from sticking together.

3.Heat a skillet over medium heat. Slice the butter into 6 individual tablespoons and add the butter to the skillet. Whisk the butter frequently. When the butter melts all the way it will foam up a bit. Watch the butter carefully for lightly browned specks at the bottom of the skillet. Remove from the heat and immediately pour the butter into your mixing bowl.

4.Browning butter can easily get burned so watch it carefully and make sure it doesn’t get too brown or burned. If it does, you will need to start over.

5.Beat together the browned butter and brown sugar. Beat in the egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Beat well.

6.In another bowl stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add the dry to wet and blend until well incorporated.

7.Spread about one cup of the mixture evenly on the bottom of your prepared pan. Sprinkle the vanilla caramel pieces over the batter. Sprinkle the butterscotch baking chips on top. Gently spread the batter over the butterscotch baking chips to cover as much as possible (the mixture spreads as it bakes so just try to make sure it is even on top).

8.Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until the sides and top are lightly browned. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.

9.Sprinkle with sea salt.

Make your own Makeup Remover.

Beauty., DIY'S

If you ran out of your favorite makeup remover, or simply don’t have the money to buy that expensive kind you want, this mini recipe is so easy and works so well to remove your makeup!

Olive oil is a great miracle product and has Vitamin A&E which are filled with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory ingredients which softens the skin, has Oleic Acid which improves the skins elasticity and it doesn’t clog pores.

Many people think that if they have oily skin, things like this will make it even more oily but that’s not true, this will just help make your skin more luscious and moisturized.

Ingredients//

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 1/2 TBSP Johnson’s Baby Shampoo
  • 1/8 TSP Baby Oil, Coconut Oil, or Olive Oil [this is the best choice]

Directions//

  • Add all ingredients to a bowl.
  • Mix them together thoroughly.
  • Add mixture to any empty bottle you have. (perfume, mini soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner bottles etc.)
  • To use, just apply a small amount to a cotton ball or cotton swab and remove softly from your face. I use cotton balls for large amounts of makeup, and I use cotton swabs for my eyeliner.

If you don’t happen to have baby lotion, just the water and olive oil will work just fine. In a small container pour about 3oz of water and then add one tablespoon of olive oil. You need a small ratio of oil because it’s pretty potent but you can add a little bit more if you have dry skin. Since oil is less dense than water, it separates (like the picture above) so before you use it just shake it up really well and pour onto a cotton swab.

The oil helps loosen up even the most stubborn makeup products but don’t keep the remover for longer than 1-3 month because bacteria could form so if you want to use it after a while I suggest you make a new batch. If you don’t use makeup as often just make it with 1 cup of water and 1/8 tsp of olive oil.

1// Clean your nails

  • Try to cut your nails all the same length and size
  • After your done cutting your nails file them so that they aren’t rough or sharp.

3// Lotion

  • Just like your hands get dry your nails get dry too so just rub on some lotion on and around your nails so the skin doesn’t come of and the area around it stays healthy.

4//Nail Biting

  • I should have put this first. this is a problem for a lot of people its a really bad habit and can really ruin your nails
  • If you need help to stop biting your nails try putting on nail polish or chewing gum so you don’t have to put your nails in your mouth ( sounds nasty when you say it like that)

5//Vaseline

  • Vaseline isn’t just for your lips its helps with cracks dry skin and your nails.
  • Put some on your nails everyday so they can get stronger.

6//Water

  • Water is really goood for your nails
  • So drink a lot of water and when you wash your hands make sure you wash your nails too

7// Food

  • If you consume a lot of calcium rich foods your nails get stronger and wont chip as often, so eat lots of cheese ,yogurt, ice cream..etc

8// Capsules

  • There are many vitamins which can promote nail growth and make them healthier. Honestly I haven’t tried them myself to say if they work but it won’t hurt to try. In several studies though, researchers found that supplements of biotin increased nail thickness and prevented splitting and breaking. Here is an example of one:

9// Don’t mess around with your cuticles

  • DO NOT cut them too often unless they’re overgrown and you NEED to because your cuticles are barriers which protect your nails from bacteria and stuff so if you cut them too close you might get an infection like: (&& that’s not pretty)

10//Limit getting too many professional manicures done

  • Your nails might feel and look nice for a while but eventually over time your nails will become brittle and dry because of all the chemicals applied to them.
  • The tools they use are also used on thousands of other people and doing manicures at home will reduce the rick of infection.

11// Apply cuticle oil

  • If your nails are prone to breaking that means they need moisture and putting oil around the cuticle helps moisturize your nails which will reduce breaking.

12// Try not to use Acetone-based nail polish removers

  • We all know how hard it can be to remove glitter nail polish and acetone might be an easy way to do it but never fear, Aisha is here (lol I should stop)
    • Before applying any glitter/hard to remove polish apply a base coat of Elmers glue or any basic white school glue and let it dry. Once it’s dry, apply the nail polish. Whenever you want to take it off just pick on it a little and it should peel right off.

13// Don’t over wash your hands

  • I know I mentioned above that water is good for your nails but drinking wise. If you wash your hands more than you need to, it’ll wash away natural oils and those are essential for keeping your nails healthy.
    • If you really need to wash your hands a lot just make sure to moisturize as often as you can.

14// File your nails right

  • When you file your nails to often it’ll cause the layers to peels but when you do, file them in one direction not back and forth to help reduce breakage.

&& Don’t forget that your toenails are just as important.

Fall is a favorite of ours—from the crisp, cool weather to the cozy fall wardrobe to the seasonal harvest. This recipe is super simple, you only need four ingredients! While you’re at it, make an extra batch or two and you’ll have a lovely gift to bring to next dinner party you’re invited to.

Ingredients:
• 1 3/4 cups whipping cream
• 1 cup packed (dark) brown sugar
• 1/4 cup (half stick) butter
• Dash of vanilla

DIY'S, Recipes.

Displaying Screenshot_2014-11-27-15-05-20.png

I’m all about doing things the quick and easy way so here’s another fast Thanksgiving item you can put together last-minute.  For a quick dessert recipe click here. For a quick finger food recipe click here.

Ingredients//

  • 1 (64 ounce) bottle cranberry juice
  • 1 cup orange juice (low acid is best)
  • 2 cups lemon-lime flavored soda
  • sugar
  • 1-2 lemons/limes/oranges sliced

Directions//

  • Place slices of whatever citrus you picked in bottom of large punch bowl.
  • Mix the juices and soda together & pour on top.
  • Serve ice cold for best taste

TIP: To prevent the punch from being watered down make ice cubes with punch instead of water. The punch will stay cold without being watery.

Serves 15.

You can also make frosted cranberries which are great for kids or just as a simple thing to snack on.

Ingredient//

  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon pasteurized egg white or liquid egg substitute
  • 1 (12 ounce) package fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup white sugar

Directions//

In a medium bowl, stir together the water and egg white until blended but not whipped. Coat cranberries with this mixture. Spread the sugar out on a baking sheet, and roll the cranberries in it until they are coated. Dry at room temperature for 2 hours. Use as garnishes for desserts, or eat them plain.

Serves 24, or if you’re like me, serves 1 haha.

  • Spread cherry pie filling over bottom of the pan. Layer the pineapple on top of it but DON’T drain it.

  • Take the spatula or a spoon and mix the cherry pie filling and crushed pineapple together in the baking pan until they are well mixed. Made sure the mixture is evenly distributed and level in the baking pan.
  • Sprinkle dry cake mix over all but DO NOT MIX IT IN. Melt butter and drizzle over the top. If you want you can sprinkle the crushed pecans now.
